Ingredients 

  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup low fat or fat free milk
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence/extract
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • ¾ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Method 

  1. Preheat the oven to 190⁰C and grease a baking dish. 
  2. In a bowl, whisk the egg, milk, sugar, butter, and vanilla essence until well combined. 
  3. Add the oats, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt and stir to combine with the wet ingredients. 
  4. Transfer to the greased baking dish and bake uncovered until the top of the oats are golden and the mixture is set, about 35-40 minutes. 
  5. Remove and allow it to cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving. 
  6. Serve with fruit and nuts, seeds or nut butter for a nutritious breakfast.

* This recipe can also be made with the fruit and nuts baked into the oats.
