Ingredients
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup low fat or fat free milk
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence/extract
- 1 cup rolled oats
- ¾ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Method
- Preheat the oven to 190⁰C and grease a baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk the egg, milk, sugar, butter, and vanilla essence until well combined.
- Add the oats, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt and stir to combine with the wet ingredients.
- Transfer to the greased baking dish and bake uncovered until the top of the oats are golden and the mixture is set, about 35-40 minutes.
- Remove and allow it to cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
- Serve with fruit and nuts, seeds or nut butter for a nutritious breakfast.
* This recipe can also be made with the fruit and nuts baked into the oats.
